"There is Something About Fire" works by David Zeltwanger
Now - April 30th

Opening Reception - March 17, 2023  (6-8PM)

David started doing masonry in 1987 on small projects and helping others complete backyard patios. He went full time into building with brick, stone and mortar in  2003.

Looking at his masonry and seeing the art in it, he was inspired to Start Carving stone in 2012 after he took a class carving a human face out of limestone.

This exhibit shows how humans have harnessed fire to cook and survive over the history of the earth.  Ovens, heaters and carved garden pieces fill the Bindery Artist Studios large multipurpose space Now – April 30th.  Sketches and inspiration David has gathered and created are on display in the front Community Gallery as well.

Viewers of the exhibit can expect to be inspired to view fire differently and appreciate the value of this primal technology.

Mason On a Mission
Eustafa's are built for indigenous families who rely on a wood fired stove to heat their dwelling, cook their food and provide safety at night.  Many of these families replace their indoor unvented open fire with these stoves.  The environmental health improves dramatically when the fire is contained in a structure and smoke is vented to the outside.  Over 4,000 Stoves have been installed in the last 20 years by MOM.
D Z Masonry supports the Masons On a Mission by donating the cost of a Eustafa each time a Masonry Heater or Brick Oven is built under contract.  Additionally, David has traveled to Guatemala and built dozens of stoves himself.  Seeing the conditions of some of the people being helped is humbling and motivating to appreciate the comfort we enjoy at home.
