Biography
David Hovde has been producing 18th and 19th century utilitarian pottery since 1986 for reenactors and living history professionals. Since 1989 he has focused on French Colonial reproductions focusing on the Fort Ouiatenon period (1717-1760). Having a background in archaeology and history, he does extensive research on the various forms by studying actual vessels in museums and archaeological laboratories in Louisiana, Pennsylvania, Minnesota, Illinois, Indiana, Canada, and Europe as well as archaeological site reports. Beginning in 2015, he has also worked on his own designs and maintaining an interest in functional ceramics. For more information visit his website.
