Biography
Stephanie first embarked on her yoga journey in 2004 while training for the Indy half marathon with the main focus of muscle recovery and physical strength. Her practice shifted a few years later when her father died suddenly from cancer and soon after, Stephanie was diagnosed with Hodgkins Lymphoma. During this time, Stephanie was living in Australia and discovered Shadow Yoga and began private sessions with her teacher Zhander Rhemete. Yoga soon became a method of healing from grief and from the harsh but necessary treatments of chemotherapy and radiation therapy.
In 2014 Stephanie completed her Yoga Teacher Training, through Passion Yoga School, as a means to connect more with her yoga community in Indianapolis. After moving to Lafayette in 2015, she began teaching group yoga classes at MatchBOX Co-working Studio until 2020. Since then, Stephanie has been focusing her yoga teachings to more one-on-one sessions and looks forward to using this space at The Bindery to bring more people together in small group yoga classes and workshops. In 2020-2021, Stephanie completed her certificate in Trauma Informed Yoga Teacher Training and employs these teachings in all her offerings. Stephanie has a degree in Public Health and has practiced as a Dental Hygienist in various offices in Indianapolis, Australia and Lafayette since 2005.
Stephanie's family heritage is of the Amish traditions, and she has long believed in the power of nature to calm, ground and bring into harmony our own personal practices with Self and our connection to community. She grew up with strong connections to the 4 seasons of the Midwest and living from the land, creating foods and medicines from the bounty nature provides. In 2018, Stephanie became a member of the Historical Lafayette Farmers Market, where she creates and shares her favorite herbal teas, botanical bath salts, essential oils rollers, beeswax candles, gemstone mala jewelry and more. Each item is directly linked with Stephanie's healing journey of coming home, closer to Self.
